Description

Calacatta Oro, also known as Calacatta Carrara, is quarried from a bedrock quarry in the Apanini Mountains near Carrara, Italy. Over millions of years, water has penetrated deep into this stone through small cracks and fissures, causing the iron oxide and other minerals to oxidize. It is this process that produces the rich, gold veining and make this a truly unique marble. Due to the qualities of the stone, the slabs are book-matched; meaning slab one and slab two will be cut and polished to create a mirror image of each other. To have well-balanced slabs such as these, Arizona Tile has to wait for just the right block to arrive from the quarry. Only a small percentage of Calacatta Oro blocks yield the premium size and color available in the exclusive Boutique Collection. The unrivaled characteristics of this stone require a higher price when blocks of such a high quality come around.
