Earth is a sedimentary stone composed of calcite calcium carbonate. This material’s dense structure mimics that of natural slate, while the physical components technically classify it as a limestone. Earth lacks iron minerals that have the potential for rusting and is much denser than others, making it one of the few slate products that is suitable for wet area applications. As a natural stone product it is recommended that it be sealed to extend its longevity. Due to the nature of the tumbled finish, a stone-enhancing sealer will accentuate the natural colors in the stone that may be subdued after going through the tumbling process. There will be noticeable variations in color and movement between pieces. Therefore, it is recommended that a range of this product be viewed before purchasing.
