Silver Beige is quarried from a bedrock quarry in the southwestern region of China in the Guizhou Province. This is a sedimentary stone that is formed on shallow sea beds from monsoonal rains washing minerals, plants and animals into the sea. It is composed mainly of calcite calcium carbonate. Structurally, Silver Beige is a very hard limestone. Some common characteristics that are visible in this limestone are quartz veins and grey portions. These veins are a natural characteristic of the material and are expected to be visible throughout much of the product. There will be noticeable variations in color and movement between pieces. Therefore, it is important and recommended that a range of this product be viewed before finalizing a purchase. Due to the qualities of the stone, the slabs are book-matched; meaning slab one and slab two will be cut and polished to create a mirror image of each other. These are then kept in sequence, which allows for a consistent flow in pattern. It is important to seal this item with an impregnating sealer or use grout release. It should be applied before grouting, which makes the grout cleanup faster and easier. As a natural stone product, it is recommended that this be sealed to extend its longevity.
