Description

Sterling Sky is quarried from a bedrock quarry in Danby, Vermont. The quarry has been open and operating for over 100 years. Multiple products are supplied from various layers of this quarry, including Calacatta Sunrise and Calacatta Mist. The quarry is 100% inside a mountain, with parts of the quarry up to one mile deep. The quarry was designed so that two thirds of the marble is quarried and removed, while one third of the marble is kept in place. The remaining marble is used for pillars to hold up the roof of the quarry, similar to the construction of a honeycomb. The 1-1/4" honed slabs can be used for kitchen countertop use because this is one of the most dense white stones in the market. Although white marble can scratch, etch or stain when it is installed in a kitchen, if you are willing to keep it sealed and understand the recommended maintenance, it will be a beautiful addition to any home.

This marble is also known as Crystal Stratus.
