Torreon Stone is quarried near Torreon, Mexico. This is a sedimentary stone that is formed in hot springs and is composed of calcite calcium carbonate. All travertine stones will have natural cavities, or pits, visible in the stone that developed when carbon dioxide bubbles became trapped during the formation of the stone. Three days prior to honing, the slabs of this travertine are filled with a colored cement to fill in these cavities. During the dry summer months the cement will cure more quickly than it will during the more humid parts of the year. Because of this fluctuation in curing, it is normal for the tone of the fill to differ between seasons. Arizona Tile also offers Torreon Stone as a product of our tumbled program, which will offer a multitude of mosaics and tile sizes that will provide a more rustic style to any design. There can be noticeable variances between pieces, so it is important and recommended that a range of this product be viewed before finalizing a purchase. As a natural stone product, it is recommended that this be sealed to extend its longevity.

This travertine is also known as Durango.
