Crema Europa limestone is quarried from a bedrock quarry in Murcia, Spain. This sedimentary stone is 94.6% calcium carbonate, 3.5% calcium oxide, .9% magnesium carbonate and 1% insoluble residues such as iron, aluminum and silicon oxide. One of the unique characteristics of this limestone is the existence of some small shells and fossils that may appear throughout the tile or slabs. Veining and movement is inherent in Crema Europa and can vary between pieces. Due to its qualities, the slabs are book-matched, in which slab one and slab two will be cut and polished to create a mirror image of each other. These are then kept in sequence, which allows for a consistent flow in pattern.
