Alexandria is quarried from a bedrock quarry in Turkey. This is a sedimentary stone that is formed in hot springs and is composed mainly of calcite calcium carbonate. All travertine stones will have natural cavities, or pits visible in the stone that were developed when carbon dioxide bubbles became trapped during the formation of the stone. As an unfilled travertine, the pits will remain visible and unfilled until they
are filled with grout during installation. Overall, this will provide a more natural aesthetic to the installation of this stone. Arizona Tile also offers Alexandria as a product of our tumbled program, which will offer a multitude of mosaics and tile sizes that will visually add a more rustic style to any design.
