Ankara is quarried near the city of Denizli, Turkey. This sedimentary stone is formed in hot springs, which is composed of calcite calcium carbonate. Like all travertines, the cavities were created when the carbon dioxide bubbles were trapped as the stone was being formed. This is an unfilled travertine that will give a more rustic appearance once grouted after installation.
