Media reports have circulated that have created widespread consumer confusion and concern about radiation levels occurring in natural granites used for residential countertops. These reports suggest some countertops may pose health risks, ignoring years of legitimate and independent scientific research that has concluded that natural stone is safe to use in homes. Click here for a study conducted by an independent laboratory with expertise in radon and radiology testing. The laboratory tested 112 of the most common commercial granites used for countertops, finding "Cumulatively, we have a huge body of evidence that suggests that this particular risk from granite is negligible."
