It is with great admiration that we showcase the work of Ashton Joseph, Senior Designer at By Design Interiors<\/a>. Her dedication and passion are evident in the transformation of a dated house into a modern, glamorous home for a busy family of five. Faced with a significant task, Ashton’s choice to partner with Arizona Tile\u2014known for our high-resistant, high-quality, and long-lasting products\u2014was a testament to her commitment to delivering the best for her clients.<\/p>\n

Ashton Joseph, a seasoned member of the design team at By Design Interiors in Houston, TX, brings over 14 years of experience to her craft. Her ability to create personalized, glamorous, and functional interiors is a testament to her fine-tuned eye for high-end detail. She stays motivated and inspired through fashion and traveling and remains up to date on current innovations, trends, and styles within the fashion and interior design industries.<\/p>\n

The Project<\/h2>\n

In Woodlands, TX, stood a house, built in 2008, that needed a more open concept, a whole-house update, and fine-tuning to mesh practicality with luxury. For Ashton, this was a welcomed opportunity to turn this house into a home. The full renovation included removing walls that were separating the kitchen from the formal living room, allowing for a full view into the heart of the home\u2014the living room<\/a>, kitchen, and family room\u2014from the entryway; and opening the dining room<\/a> to be a more expansive space, that also incorporate a custom wine cellar within the room. This open floor plan made it easier for the family to navigate through the home more cohesively and spend more time together, and it created a warm, inviting space to entertain friends and family.<\/p>\n

This project didn\u2019t happen overnight. It was a five-year undertaking completed in three stages. You\u2019ll find bold hues, gold, black, and deep greys used throughout the home as this family was not afraid of color, dramatic wallcoverings, and gold finishes, making this an exceptionally fun project for Ashton. In fact, not only are we excited to showcase this project, but the home was also featured in Modern Luxury Interiors Texas, Vol. 4, released in October 2023. Nice work, Ashton!<\/p>\n

Entryway<\/h2>\n

It begins with your first step into the home where you will be greeted with our stunning porcelain tile: Tru Marmi<\/a> Extra 24\u201d x 48\u201d in a Matte finish. While this tile has a plethora of recommended uses, here you will find it spanning throughout the entry floor. This large format tile<\/a> not only has a beautiful aesthetic to each piece, but its large size creates an expansive look, whether the space is large or small.<\/p>\n

Additionally, given its large surface-area coverage per tile, there will be fewer grout lines, making cleaning easier with fewer nooks and crannies for dirt to land. Ashton knew that this family needed a durable, low-maintenance option that would uphold its integrity with three young children, a large dog, and friends and family coming and going, making a porcelain tile entryway the perfect option. Compared to natural stone, much maintenance is eliminated, and durability is increased, with porcelain tile<\/a>, even in these high-traffic areas.<\/p>\n

Kitchen<\/h2>\n

Upon entering the kitchen, your eyes will land on the stunning countertop and backsplash. This client chose to carry the Calacatta Maywood<\/a> quartz kitchen countertop up the wall as the backsplash to maintain a cohesive lookCalacatta Maywood is an incredibly durable Della Terra\u00ae Quartz<\/a> that not only stuns with its white backdrop and subtle, pebble grey detailing throughout but also combines beauty with ultra-durability. Ashton\u2019s clients dreamed of surfaces that induced worry-free living where there is no stress over spills and day-to-day messes; a quartz countertop and backsplash make their kitchen<\/a> a place where they can truly live and enjoy their family.<\/p>\n

Bathrooms<\/p>\n

For the kid\u2019s bathroom, they chose which offers the perfect aesthetic along with practicality. Made to emulate natural marble, this white porcelain with grey veining detail is neutral, elegant, sophisticated, and durable, making it the perfect porcelain tile flooring to carry throughout many rooms. Given its neutrality, this family can use whatever d\u00e9cor they like to create a fun theme in the kids\u2019 bathroom<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the showers of the four bathrooms, Themar Statuario V<\/a> gracefully paired with Cala Lenci. On the shower walls, you will find 3\u201d x 12\u201d polished tile, and for the shower flooring, Hex Mesh Matte. Similar in appearance to Cala Lenci\u2014white with grey veining, Themar Statuario V is also made to emulate marble, though its grey veining is a bit more enhanced. Ashton knew that this shift in porcelain tile would present accentuated depth to create a welcoming shower space full of dignity and comfort that naturally allows for a peaceful rejuvenation while getting ready for the day or unwinding at the day’s close.<\/p>\n

To top off the polished look, they went with Portofino Classico<\/a> quartz for a bathroom vanity. Also a beautiful white, but with a subdued grey pattern dispersed throughout. Quartz is always a wise selection as it is just as durable and low maintenance<\/a> as it is aesthetically pleasing.<\/p>\n

For the one-and-only primary bathroom, Ashton\u2019s client chose a slightly different look and feel. They selected Themar Bianco Lasa Polished<\/a> for both the shower walls and flooring. Giving off much of the same feel as Statuario V, Bianco Lasa hosts grey horizontal veining that offers a more delicate touch.
