Natural stone comes in a multitude of colors, shapes, and sizes. While one stone product may be good for one application, another may be better for something else. Sometimes a natural stone, such as marble, can be used to create a new material, such as agglomerate marble, which provides unique benefits. With a mid-century feel, agglomerate marble can enhance the appearance of a space and provide advanced benefits vs. other stone products.<\/p>\n

Agglomerate marble<\/a> may provide the perfect mid-century modern appeal, whether it\u2019s an intended part of your design or you are only considering incorporating it into the look. Best used on interior floors and walls in commercial or residential settings, agglomerate marble tile creates an appealing mid-century modern atmosphere to carry a desired aesthetic throughout a space.<\/p>\n

What is Agglomerate Marble?<\/h2>\n

To appreciate the beauty of agglomerate marble, knowing how it is made enhances its appeal. A natural stone formed within the earth, marble is a metamorphic rock, meaning it changes form. Think caterpillar to butterfly\u2014it\u2019s the same sort of idea. When limestone, a sedimentary rock, is subjected to extreme heat and pressure over millions of years. It goes through a process of recrystallization which causes calcite crystals within the limestone to grow and fuse together. When this occurs, marble has been created. Ok, so that\u2019s how marble is formed, but agglomerate marble is a little different because it is manufactured from marble chips. These chips are tumbled to round their sharp edges, then combined with resin and placed in large rectangular tanks to be cured into a block. Once cured, the block is cut into \u00be\u201d or \u00bd\u201d thick slabs or cut down further into tile.<\/p>\n

Given that resin is nonporous, this helps tremendously with durability, whereas standard marble slabs and marble tiles are porous, making them more susceptible to staining and wear and tear if not properly cared for. However, given that agglomerate marble still has a lot of marble in it, making sure a proper sealer is applied according to a routine is essential for longevity and durability. The luxury of this durability is the breadth of which agglomerate tile can be used throughout an entire commercial or residential space as flooring and on the walls. A highly trafficked area is of no concern to this tile (with proper cleanliness and maintenance<\/a>, of course). Whether it be a clientele or family and friends, they\u2019ll recognize the artistic display that radiates through agglomerate mid-century modern tile.<\/p>\n

Classico and Iceberg<\/h2>\n

Light and bright is something you have probably heard said when thinking about design. Light, bright materials add an airy, open feel to most spaces. Classico and Iceberg mid-century modern tile will speak to this design structure.<\/p>\n

Classico<\/a> is a polished agglomerate marble comprised of a white resin background that elegantly displays small, grey marble chips. Upon a closer look, there are some soft hints of beige that may appeal more to a warmer d\u00e9cor design, while still remaining neutral.<\/p>\n

Iceberg<\/a> is quite similar to Classico in that it is a polished agglomerate marble with a white background and a stunning display of grey marble chips, but these grey marble chips are a bit larger. Slight hints of beige can also be detected here, but the larger marble chips allow the grey to really pop. Again, it is neutral and versatile, but if you\u2019re working with cool-toned d\u00e9cor, the more prominent grey may cater to your preferences slightly more.<\/p>\n

The softness of either of these offerings, available in both slab and tile format, bring a light and bright ambiance year-round.<\/p>\n

Vector and Regium<\/h2>\n

Similar to Classico and Iceberg, Vector and Regium offer many similarities but provide an element of color.<\/p>\n

Vector<\/a> is a polished agglomerate marble comprised of an off-white background, but where it really differs is in the marble chips. Embedded in this resin are small black, gold, and grey marble chips. Adding some color in a lobby, on a kitchen floor, or bathroom walls of a shower would provide a nice touch of detail and fun energy to a space.<\/p>\n

While Vector is a more subtle approach to adding color, Regium<\/a> enhances this a bit more. With the same make-up and colors as Vector, Regium offers the agglomerate marble tile version with larger marble chips. If you\u2019re not afraid to add color, or even mix and match Vector tile and Regium tile, you will create a lovely display of color and excitement.<\/p>\n

Orange can be associated with optimism, confidence, enthusiasm, and warmth, making this a great tile for an office setting, possibly a conference room where you need to feel all that confidence! However, don\u2019t stop there; designing a bathroom with Vector and\/or Regium along the walls of a shower can make you feel uplifted and rejuvenated (because orange has that effect, too!).<\/p>\n

There is value in mentioning that pops of color like this, especially on a floor, can truly make the general appearance a little less stressful throughout the day as tract-in dirt won\u2019t be very noticeable. Sweep at the end of the day and no stress!<\/p>\n
