Glacier

Stone Type:

Granite

Sizes/Thickness:

1-1/4" (3cm slab)

Origin:

India

Finish:

Polished

Glacier is quarried from a bedrock quarry in India and its look varies from bundle to bundle. Large feldspar crystals dominate the look of this granite, but it can also have wavy or vein movement throughout. This granite comes from a small vein within a quarry and is limited in its availability. During the polishing process, an epoxy resin is applied to the surface of the stone to fill in any natural pits, cracks or fissures that may exist. There may also be larger, resin filled voids in this granite. The color of the resin may be black, grey, or clear, as the factory tries to match the look of the area near the void. These resin filled voids will not have the same polish as the surface of the slab. Due to the qualities of the stone, the slabs are book-matched; meaning slab one and slab two will be cut and polished to create a mirror image of each other. These are then kept in sequence, which allows for a consistent flow in pattern. Finally, a mesh backing is adhered to the back of the stone to ensure safety while handling and fabricating the slab or tile. As a natural stone product, it is recommended that it be sealed to extend its longevity.
