Thassos White Marble is quarried from a bedrock quarry near the city of Thessaloniki, Greece. This white crystalline marble has been used for building since ancient times. The Parthenon in Athens used this pure, white marble in its construction. To supply clean slabs the factory hand selects the best slabs and then trims any spots on the outer edge of the slab, ensuring that only pure, white material is shipped. This is noticeable when looking at a bundle of slabs because every slab is a different size. The matching 12”x24” Thassos White tile goes through the same hand selection as the slabs. Any tile with black spots is removed and only the clean, white selection is shipped.Piece to piece variation in shade or color are inherent in all natural stone products; therefore, when installing natural stone tile, it is recommended to mix tiles from several boxes at a time during installation to achieve the best range of color. As natural stone products, it is recommended that these be sealed to extend their longevity. California Residents: Information about Proposition 65 can be found in FAQs.
