Torreon Stone is quarried near Torreon, Mexico. This is a sedimentary stone that is formed in hot springs and is composed of calcite calcium carbonate. All travertine stones will have natural cavities, or pits visible in the stone that developed when carbon dioxide bubbles became trapped during the formation of the stone. Prior to honing, this travertine is filled with a color cement to fill in these cavities, and due to varying climate conditions, the color of the fill can differ between shipments. The
classic version of a stone will identify it as having more extreme and distinct characteristics. Classic travertine products will have larger, more prominent pits, or fill and a higher variation of color between pieces. Therefore, it is important and recommended that a range of this product be viewed before finalizing a purchase. As a natural stone product it is recommended that it be sealed to extend its longevity.
