Interior design is more than aesthetics: it is about creating environments that evoke emotion, support functionality, and reflect the interests of those who reside within. For Monica Macha, founder of Monica Macha Design, bringing each client’s vision to life is her goal. Based in Boise, Idaho, Monica brings over 25 years of experience in high-end residential design to every project, blending timeless elegance with modern sensibilities. Her latest endeavor—a new-construction home with an accessory dwelling unit (ADU)—showcases her signature style: warm, modern, and organic.
Her Design Approach
Monica’s design approach requires thoughtful collaboration; therefore, she works closely with her clients, architects, and builders to develop a cohesive plan that emphasizes the project’s goals. To help her clients visualize their future homes and remodels, Monica creates digital renderings that bring the project to life. This process also helps ensure that every detail is intentional, every material is thoughtfully selected, and every space is tailored to the people who will live in it.

For this particular project, Monica turned to Arizona Tile to help bring her vision to life. This home, designed for multi-generational living, required a cohesive aesthetic across the main residence and the additional dwelling. Monica’s goal was to create a luxurious yet approachable environment—one that felt elevated but still warm and inviting. With our high-quality products, Monica achieved this balance.
Primary Bathroom
In the primary bathroom, Monica used Shibusa Crema 24×48 porcelain tile to wrap the ceilings, floors, and walls. This choice was instrumental in creating a spa-like atmosphere, which is a popular design approach. With its soft, creamy tones, the tile complemented the custom sauna wood finishes, creating a serene oasis.

“The Shibusa Crema tile created the spa-like vibe I was looking for,” Monica explains. “It blended perfectly with the custom sauna wood tones.”
Kitchen and Guest Bathroom
The ADU kitchen and guest bathroom also benefited from Monica’s thoughtful material selections. Ripieno Honed Quartz was chosen for its rich veining and luxurious honed texture. In the ADU kitchen, it served as a functional yet elegant countertop surface. Monica also specified Ripieno Honed Quartz for the guest bath, using it as both a countertop and a full-height backsplash. This application added drama and sophistication, elevating the design.

Safety and beauty were equally important in the guest bathroom. Monica selected Unica Moon 24×48 porcleain tile with our R11 Finish for the flooring, including the shower. This choice helps ensure a safer environment, without compromising on style. Learn more about our R11 Finish products and where they are best used.
In the ADU primary bathroom, Monica opted for Grigio Elegante Quartz for the countertop. Its minimalist veining and subtle color provided a clean, modern look that aligned with the overall design aesthetic.
Product Benefits
Throughout the project, Monica and her client were impressed by the quality of Arizona Tile’s products. “I like the quality, and so does my client, of each of the Arizona Tile products specified,” Monica shares. “I achieved the high-end warm modern organic look I was going for.” This endorsement speaks volumes about our products and about how Arizona Tile wants to be there to help people’s vision become a reality.

The home’s overall aesthetic is a testament to Monica’s design philosophy. Neutral backgrounds are layered with dark and medium wood tones, highlighted by splashes of color. The result is a space that feels grounded and timeless, yet fresh and modern. Each room reflects the warm, modern, organic style Monica envisioned, proving that thoughtful design can transform a house into a sanctuary. Knowing our products helped achieve this is invaluable to us.
Beyond the visual appeal, the project also represents a shift in how families live. Building a custom home with an ADU offers a new format for multi-generational living, allowing families to stay close while maintaining independence. Monica embraced this challenge, ensuring that both the main home and the ADU shared cohesion and luxurious style. “It’s great to be able to keep the look and style of both spaces with the same elevated style,” she says. “Thank you, Arizona Tile, for innovative and value-based product lines.”
