Galaxy Black is quarried from a boulder quarry located near the town of Markapur, in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. The size and color of each block is fairly consistent between shipments. Arizona Tile focuses its purchases on the slabs with medium-sized gold flecks. It is possible to have some slight veining in this color, or consolidation of the gold flecks. Because it is such a dense stone, and there are minimal micro fissures and pitting, no resin is applied to the surface.
This granite is also known as Amethyst Black, Black Galaxy, Black Star Galaxy, or Midnight Magic.
As a natural stone product, it is recommended that this be sealed to extend its longevity. Natural stone may absorb moisture during fabrication and from installation materials. Therefore, it is recommended that sealing should be done after the stone has fully dried to ensure proper sealer absorption, and prior to consumer use. Drying time will vary depending on the stone, as well as the temperature and humidity level. After sealing, allow it to cure completely. Arizona Tile suggests using a solvent-based impregnating sealer for the initial sealing.
