Calacatta Gold

Calacatta Gold is quarried in the Apuan Mountains near Carrara, Italy. This marble comes from a gallery quarry which means that the quarry is inside the mountain. Because they don’t have to contend with the cold winter weather, this quarry runs year round. Blocks still need to be moved down the mountain so during the winter months snow and ice can limit the production of this marble. Calacatta Gold will always have a creamy white background with taupe/gold veins. Due to the qualities of the stone, the slabs are book-matched; meaning slab one and slab two will be cut and polished to create a mirror image of each other. These are then kept in sequence, which allows for a consistent flow in pattern. A full tile, mosaic and molding package is available in Calacatta Gold.

As a natural stone product, it is recommended that this be sealed to extend its longevity. Natural stone may absorb moisture during fabrication and from installation materials. Therefore, it is recommended that sealing should be done after the stone has fully dried to ensure proper sealer absorption, and prior to consumer use. Drying time will vary depending on the stone, as well as the temperature and humidity level. After sealing, allow it to cure completely. Arizona Tile suggests using a solvent-based impregnating sealer for the initial sealing.
