Thassos White Marble is quarried from a bedrock quarry near the city of Thessaloniki, Greece. This white crystalline marble has been used for building since ancient times. The Parthenon in Athens used this pure, white marble in its construction.
Thassos White can contain small brown or black spots as well as resin filled pits. Normally the crystal structure is very tight, but there will be some larger crystals that may show a grey tone. This is due to the way the light reflects off these larger crystals versus the smaller crystals.
Piece to piece variation in shade or color are inherent in all natural stone products; therefore, when installing natural stone tile, it is recommended to mix tiles from several boxes at a time during installation to achieve the best range of color. As natural stone products, it is recommended that these be sealed to extend their longevity.
