You have been designing a new bathroom and now you have come to the specifics of creating a shower oasis that will provide you with peace and comfort. Designing the aesthetics for any project can be fun and rewarding but it takes a careful touch to make selections that will work best in your space. Natural, blue stone shower tile is a wonderful option due to its universal appeal as well as the value its beauty can add to your home.

A shower can be a space where you splurge on quality because it’s a place to invigorate in the morning or wind down in the evening. Shower tile in shades of blue will enhance the feeling of comfort as it evokes peace, calmness, relaxation, and tranquility.

Shower Features

During the thought process of making your shower aesthetically pleasing, you will want to consider what features you would like to enjoy in your shower—be it a bench, recessed shelving, or other accent areas.  Once you determine these features, it becomes easier to design your shower.

Recessed Shelves

Different areas within the shower, regardless of if it’s a large or small space, can be designed with various tile regarding color, size, and shape. There are many blue-hued shower tile options that range from large tile to small tile. CS-Sky Blue and   are both part of the Completa Series which is a collection of natural stone marble tile, trim, and mesh mount designs. Sky Blue is a faint blue marble with subtle white details scattered throughout. Its slight blue coloring provides a luxurious, ethereal appeal. Similar, yet a little darker, is Deep Blue where you will see a rich blue with faint white detailing while its striking blue tone creates a bold statement. Both come in numerous mesh mount designs and large tile making it easy to create several focal areas with a beautiful, cohesive design.

If you are smitten over Sky Blue or Deep Blue marble, let’s say, your blue shower tile can be solely one marble but in several mesh mount variations. With options like herringbone mesh, oval mesh, ellipse mesh, 4 x 16, and 12 x 24 tile, it becomes easy to have fun with your favorite marble selection. A great feature to add as a focal point, but also to benefit your daily needs, is recessed shower shelves within a niche. Created in the making of the shower, these shelves are built in to the niche to produce a flawless design.  In this space, use a different pattern of tile to draw the eye to this added feature, or, if you want it to blend in, run the same tile within the niche for a streamlined appearance.

Bench

Having a bench in the shower adds practical function. A bench could be a surface for personal products so they do not clutter up the shower floor; an area to assist with bathing, especially if mobility is a concern or you are planning ahead for when it may become an issue; and, a place to sit and relax while enjoying your shower. A bench would be beneficial for rest, relaxation, and recuperation in a steam shower—another great place to incorporate blue shower tile.

When it comes to design, there is no one-way to do things, per se. It is its own form of art that expresses creativity and style in your vision, so if you decide to add a bench in your shower, the design is yours for the choosing. One option would be to select a slab of stone as opposed to tile. This would create a solid statement piece to pair with the blue shower tile you’ve selected for the shower walls and floor.

Blue Tahoe Satin is quarried from bedrock in Brazil, and though it resembles marble, it is quartzite, which is harder and more durable than marble. With all the beauty and extra durability, Blue Tahoe Satin would be a lavish way to add a deep, yet stunning hue to your new shower with its blue-tones, silver background, grey veining, and white throughout. Also, a quartzite from Brazil, Ijen Blue is a cool-toned natural stone that displays a light blue background with striking blue and gold veining. This slab is not one that would be over-looked as its natural coloring makes it quite unique. Both stone slabs offer a brilliant color scheme that would make any shower bench a masterpiece.

Accent Areas

Accent areas within a shower bring a thoughtful, elegant design to the tile layout. An accent area can be large, like an entire wall and/or floor, or something smaller like detail around fixtures and/or a recessed shelf. The various shapes and sizes of tile in the Completa Series, like Sky Blue and Deep Blue, would be a good option to integrate small, marble detail within your shower, and even throughout the bathroom.

Tile Size

It may seem that if your shower space is small, you should use small tile on the shower floor and shower walls but that isn’t the case. Larger tile can actually elongate a smaller space and make a space look more expansive.

Using 4 x 16 or 12 x 24 tile creates a different look than smaller, patterned styles, all purely based on personal preference. In the design, you can go with all smaller tiles or larger tiles, or integrate both. Haisa Blue Honed is a cool, grey-toned marble tile that has a neutral hue to it, allowing for it to be nicely paired with other blue shower tile or be used alone.  If choosing the “alone” route, another option you may love is to use marble slab on the shower walls. Fantasy Blue Satin is a hard marble that is more durable than some others because of the way it is naturally created. This slab has dramatic look created by swirls of beige and white veining dispersed across a stunning blue background. You can enjoy all of this from the comfort of your own home, even though this natural beauty will make you feel like you’re in a personal spa.
