Azul Platino is quarried from a bedrock quarry near the city of Vigo, Spain. It has been used in the Spanish market for hundreds of years. The cathedral in Santiago Di Compostela, Spain is made entirely of granite which was quarried in the Vigo area. This granite has a tight grain structure and can have slight white or black veining and may have small black spots. Slabs of Azul Platino are always large, which are a great choice for kitchens with over-sized islands.
As a natural stone product, it is recommended that this be sealed to extend its longevity. Natural stone may absorb moisture during fabrication and from installation materials. Therefore, it is recommended that sealing should be done after the stone has fully dried to ensure proper sealer absorption, and prior to consumer use. Drying time will vary depending on the stone, as well as the temperature and humidity level. After sealing, allow it to cure completely. Arizona Tile suggests using a solvent-based impregnating sealer for the initial sealing.
